Starkey defends record on taxes
Kathryn Starkey, a proven conservative consistently fighting for lower taxes, a longtime community activist and volunteer in Pasco and Pinellas counties, has recently been portrayed by local news articles as “selfish” and “irresponsible” for taking a stand against a tax increase.
Starkey has long fought for lower taxes. Appointed twice by Governor Bush to the Pinellas Anclote River Basin Board, Starkey is known for leading the charge to lower taxes, accomplishing a 10% decrease during her term.
While serving on the Pasco County School Board, Starkey consistently fought to lower the impact of taxes on residents and businesses, ultimately accomplishing an overall decrease of 3.1% in the millage rate while the number of schools has increased 26%.
Kathryn Starkey’s experience on the Pasco School Board has propelled her desire to go to Tallahassee to fight against the forced local implementation of tax increases and the unfunded mandates sent to local governments by the legislature. She is a firm believer in living within a budget and is resolute in cutting expenses to achieve a balanced budget.
Starkey’s record of cutting taxes, her active involvement in the local community for over 20 years, and her dedication to family, business and education set her apart from her opponents in the District 45 House Race.
Starkey’s actions and accomplishments speak louder than words.
